Some explanations on the used materials

Findings (wire, earwires, leverback, etc.) are guaranteed without nickel, cadmium and lead  unleaded at the origin of most of the allergies.

Gold-filled 14 carats : The term gold filled refers to the manufacturing process in which a sheet of base metal, usually brass, is mechanically bonded with thinner sheets of gold. When a layer of gold is affixed on all surfaces by any mechanical means, and the weight of the gold is a minimum of 1/20th (or 5%) of the total weight of the metal in the article, it may be marked “Gold Filled (GF)”.  The quality of the gold used is typically 10, 12 or 14 carat gold, and 10 carat being minimum. It represents approximately 50 - 100 times more gold than in a gold-plated product. It is much more resistant than a gold-plated classic. A gold-filled product will oxidize much slower.

Gold-plated : it is a particularly used technique in the silversmith's trade which consists in putting, by electrolysis, a fine golden coat on some metal (brass or copper). In France, the standards impose a thickness of 3 microns of gold.

Flash gold : It is about a base of brass covered with a fine veneer of pure gold.

925 Silver : It contains at least 92,5% of silver, completed by 7,5 % of the other metals, most of the time the copper. The pure silver is very moldable. Consequently, it is this alloy of silver and metal which is going to confer on the material the robustness necessary for the preparation of jewellery. Synonyms: 925 silver, 925/1000 silver, sterling silver. In the field of the jewellery, the term "pure silver" is often used for the 925 silver, even though technically it is about an alloy.

Rhodium plated : Rhodium, it is a noble metal (rarer and more expensive than the gold). The silver rhodium-plated is a process used in jewelry which consists in covering by electrolysis a 925silver jewel with some rhodium. The rhodium allows to avoid the oxidation of the silver.

Silver-plated : it is about a fine coat of silver put on some brass most of the time by electrolysis. A thickness of 10 microns of silver is required to obtain the naming of silver-plated jewel.

Gemstone : They are mineral stones. In France, the semiprecious term is not authorized anymore since the decree of January 14th, 2002 n°2002-65. It is stones not being a member of the classification of four gemstones that are the diamond, the sapphire, the ruby and the emerald. The CIBJO raised a list (International Confederacy of Jewelry, Jewelry, Silversmith's trade of diamonds, pearls and stones). Eg. : Malachite, jasper, amethyst, etc.

Pearls of Bohemia : Our pearls of Bohemia come from Czech Republic. This country since the XVIIIth century invented crystal and glass pearls of one very high quality and of an incomparable brightness.

Glass seed beads Miyuki : these beads are imported by Japan. The Japanese production of glass beads began at the beginning of 1940s. The brand Miyuki set up in 1949 in Hiroshima. This brand quickly became a manufacturer of glass beads famous all over the world. Their seed beads are the security of a very beautiful quality of the fact, in particular, of their regularity and their beautiful brightness.

Advice for the maintenance of your jewellery

The jewellery in brass, golden, silver, gold-plated or silver-plated tend to tarnish because of the air pollution, of the acidity of the skin, the water, the abrasive products, the alcoholic products (cream, lacquer, perfume, etc.).

To maintain all their brightness, think of removing your jewellery when you use household products. Having put of the perfume or some cream, having waited for 2 in 5 minutes before putting your jewellery.

Do not wear your jewellery in the bath, the swimming pool, the sea or during your sports activities. When you do not wear them, tidy up your jewellery in a dry place and shielded from the air (in a hermetic box, of the tissue paper, etc.). Try not to mix too much metals (the brass with the brass, etc.).
