The objects presented in this page  all have one thing in common: being covered with paper or fabric. This paper can be Japanese, silk, Italian, etc. Most of the tissue papers come from the Décopatch brand. The fabric is 100% cotton and often Japanese fabric.

The papers were purchased during a trip but also:

  • Cléopâtre for the Glassifying Varnish. The latter gives a shiny appearance.

  • Décopatch for the n°1 satin finisher if you are looking for a more mat finish.

You will find below some models of mobiles made with Japanese paper and wooden or seed beads. Some of them are inspired by Adeline Klam's book " The Japanese Paper Workshop", ed. Marabout 2011.

 

Except for the Etoile mobile, the paper used is Japanese Yuzen Washi Chiyogami paper.

 

The Etoile mobile is made with paper with recto/verso patterns from the Toga brand 180g/m² (Vice Versa and Esprit bohème ranges).

 

The suspension cord is 100% cotton, except for the Ballon mobile (nylon thread covered with seed beads) and the Papillon mobile (metal rod and braided nylon cord).

You will find below some models of crib mobiles and other mobiles  realized with some Japanese paper and wooden pearls or with seed beads. Some of them are inspired by Adeline Klam's book " L'atelier de papier japon (The workshop  of Japanese paper)", ed. Marabout 2011.

 

Safe for the mobile "Star", the used paper is some Japanese paper Yuzen Washi Chiyogami.

 

The mobile Star is realized with some paper with motives first side/reverse of the brand  Toga 180g/m² (ranges Vice versa and bohemian Spirit).

 

The rope of suspension is 100% cotton, safe for the  Mobile Balloon  (nylon thread covered with pearl of seed beads) and the mobile Butterfly (metal rod and nylon cord braided).

I got it  adapted by adding beads to have more volume between the paper stars.  The Etoile mobile is made with paper with recto/verso patterns from the Toga brand 180g/m² (Vice Versa and Esprit bohème ranges).

1) For the memory game: Choose fabrics of different colors and patterns. You can also use Japanese or other paper.
For the puzzle: Choose a fabric that tells a story, a landscape (here I chose a countryside landscape), etc.
 
2) Glue on the back of a cardboard (2 mm thick)  previously stiffened fabric (e.g. with Texifix and a brush). You can paint and varnish the back. Cut rectangles with a cutter (4 cm wide and the length of your cardboard). Then cut squares of 4 cm sides.
